Inpatient Eating Disorder Treatment Programs

Here for you when you need us most

At Walden Behavioral Care, we are proud to offer one of the nation’s only full systems of specialized eating disorder support. We welcome people of all ages and all genders at our state-of-the-art inpatient units. Our inpatient programs provide care for people with the most serious medical and emotional needs. For many, this is an important step in their healing journeys.

We offer inpatient eating disorder treatment to people from across the country who are looking for a high level of medical and psychiatric support in Dedham, MA. This location provides 24-hour nursing care and can provide feeding tubes as needed. We also provide specialized care for other disorders that may be occurring with your eating disorder like trauma, substance use, and/or other mental health conditions.

The primary goals at our inpatient level of care are:

  • Medical and psychological stabilization
  • Interruption of eating disorder behaviors
  • Development of treatment plan and goals in preparation for lower levels of care

Our expert team uses evidence-based treatment methods proven to support long-term healing. When you arrive, you will meet with your dedicated case manager who will introduce you to a diverse team of professionals that may include doctors, nurse practitioners, social workers, dietitians, nurses, psychiatrists, and mental health counselors.

“I appreciated that my experience was collaborative. My team included me in the decision-making process and really listened to my feedback. I felt respected and valued which made it so much easier for me to trust them.”

Group therapy is an important part of our inpatient treatment. Group sessions provide a unique opportunity to connect with others who understand what you are going through. The impact of these connections is often felt far beyond the walls of treatment.

Group topics include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
  • Expressive Therapy
  • Nutrition Education
  • Relapse Prevention
  • Communication Skills

Inpatient Anorexia Treatment

Our compassionate and skilled care teams have extensive experience working with all types of eating disorders. One of the most common types of eating disorders we treat at our inpatient treatment program is anorexia nervosa, which is a serious, potentially life-threatening eating disorder marked by self-starvation and excessive weight loss. It is often driven by an intense fear of gaining weight, in addition to several genetic, biological, and environmental factors. Anorexia is a serious psychological and medical condition, requiring timely and appropriate care. Treatment can reduce the severity of the disorder, reduce potential medical complications and increase long-term recovery rates. At Walden, patients are treated for anorexia by a multidisciplinary team of dedicated doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, dietitians, counselors, social workers, expressive therapists and mental health counselors. Together, they have helped thousands of individuals impacted by anorexia.
